Eclecticism is about combining elements or particular styles from different time periods and different origins within a single room. Methodical madness are keywords. There is a madness to the madness. You can’t simply choose your favourite pieces and put them into a room together. They still need to make sense as a collection. There still needs to be a connective thread keeping a sort of harmony between pieces, whether it be through colour palette, bold silhouettes or similar proportions.
Accessorising is key. Layer textures together. Furry carpets on laminate flooring, a bunch of colourful cushions on a couch or you can experiment with hanging different photo frames to create a feature wall.
An eclectic room is a great way to express yourself through colour, yet you shouldn’t go too crazy. If you want to introduce different patterns, keep the colours similar. Have some neutral items in the room as well to balance things out.
