Celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Roald Dahl
The Wondercrump World of Roald Dahl is on at Southbank Centre from February 10th to July 3rd, 2016. It is a multi-sensory journey, taking you through seven immersive worlds, each exploring a different aspect of Roald Dahl’s life. And what a life he did lead! Did you know that Roald Dahl used to be a spy? And also a fighter pilot, inventor and historian of chocolate? The tour features unique items from the Roald Dahl Museum & Story Centre archives. You can hear Dahl’s last epic story The Minpins brought to life by live narration, animation and an orchestral score by Sibelius. There are also other acitivities such as creating your own BFG-inspired dream jar and seeing it light up as part of Southbank Centre’s Last Night I Dreamt Of installation.

Experience Art in Action
Art in Action starts from 14th – 17th July 2016 at Waterperry Gardens. Every July up to 400 artists, crafters, performers and musicians gather together in Waterperry Gardens to demonstrate their skills and show their work. You can watch the potter pot, the painter paint and the sculptor sculpt. You can ask the masters of the arts of jewellery, textiles, woodwork and glassblowing about the secrets of their craft. In the ever popular Practical Classes section, you will be able to have a go yourself at the art or craft of your choice with the guidance of an expert teacher. There is also a great selection of food available and The Market has over 100 designer-makers, so you can get special gifts for your loved ones.

This year the Bakewell Baking Festival is at Bakewell Showground on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14 August 2016. This is the world’s first and the UK’s premier baking festival devoted to all things baking with a big vintage feel. With two demonstration marquees, music, camping, vintage games, competitions and TV star bakers like Nadiya Hussain Winner of Great British Bake Off 2015.
