Le’ Apple Bakery

Cooking is a vital part of Bruneian life. There’s no denying it, we simply love our food. And with so many mouthwateringly delicious dishes in this country it’s hard to know where to begin.

But we decided to start with Le’ Apple Bakery and Mart. And what we discovered is that their cooking courses are truly exceptional. First of all, they offer a variety of cooking and baking courses to suit people from all walks of life and all age groups. But more importantly, these courses are taught by experienced chefs. Le Apple’s cooking courses include skills in preparing hot food, deserts and beverages as well as cake decorating, local food and lots more. Their team of experts include Chef Alex Chua, Cake Designer Faridah Yussof, Luqman Hakim Othman and Chef Hazrol Omar. These skilled professionals offer guided lessons, demonstrations and hands-on classes for people who are eager to learn from the experts.

Chef Alex Chua

Teaching the dessert classes is Chef Alex who acquired his Diploma in Hospitality Management from Le Cordon Bleu in Sydney. His skill, experience and patience was evident as he guided his students through the stages of making a tantalizing Tiramisu. We really enjoyed his class because it was hands-on and taught us step-by-step. Chef Alex obviously knew everything about desserts, he could teach you how to make the most delectable delights like -: chocolate brownies, bread & butter pudding, lemon tart and trio chocolate mousse.

Next is Chef Faridah Yussof, a lady who has mastered the art of making spectacular cakes. She is an authorized Wilton Method instructor and an accredited tutor of the Paul Bradford Sugarcraft School. She will teach you how to make a chocolate wrap cake and a ruffle rose wedding cake or how to make high heeled fondant shoes! When it comes to cakes, Chef Faridah’s creativity knows no bounds!

And if you’ve always wanted to find out how to concoct your own exotic thirst quenchers then attending one of Luqman Hakim Othman’s classes is a must! This gentleman is a pro and will show you how to mix up all kinds of sensational hot and cold beverages. He studied in Singapore and Switzerland and has worked in renowned places such as the Hyatt Istana Nural Iman. You will find that Luqman’s unique beverage combinations are a refreshing addition with any meal.

And completing this team of culinary experts is a veteran in the industry, Chef Hazrol Omar, a Bruneian chef with over 15 years of experience. Chef Hazrol graduated from the Canberra Institute of Technology and has experience working in cafes, restaurants and fine dining services around the Australian capital. In addition to this, he has worked at The Rizqun International Hotel and The Empire Hotel and Country Club. We learnt a lot from his hot food demonstrations which showcased how to cook salmon in some simply enticing ways. For example, salmon steak with buttered asparagus and mashed potatoes; poached salmon with garden salad and pineapple salsa; and salmon cannelloni with a parsley cream sauce. These are just a few of the creative dishes that you can learn to master in Chef Omar’s classes.

Alex, Faridah, Hakim and Hazrol are just a few of the experts who will guide you through the courses at Le Apple. Whether you choose to do a course for a few hours or two days – you are sure to improve your cooking and baking skills. And what’s more, Le Apple is always introducing new courses to suit cooking trends, so make sure to check on what’s available before signing up.
